Vodka billboard makes fun of cheap-ass Jews.

(click billboard, via Gawker)
Polish brand Wodka has been advertising their swill on this particular West Side Highway billboard here in Manhattan for months. (I've seen another execution that read: Escort Quality. Hooker Pricing.)
But now, right on edge of the chosen people's chosen NYC neighborhood, Wodka has maybe stepped over the ol' antisemitic line. Jews, what say youz?

"Christmas quality"? What the hell does that mean? I get the Jews-are-cheap trope. But did I miss the whole Christian is superior stereotype? And where do Muslims and Hindus fit in? And the fall-apart-after-one-use Made In China products--do they have a religious affiliation?

christmas is total crap so that wodka must be expensive.

One wonders if the next version of the copy should read, "Russian Product; Polish Advertising."

Nah, that might be offensive.

That's nothing, up here, Russell Peters plans to use a cheap-ass to make fun of a supposedly immaculate Jewess.

Obviously none of the commenters to this post have ever performed mundane chores on the Upper West Side.

Wait in line behind one of the local denizens at a deli, a dry cleaners, a bakery, a furniture store, a locksmith, a vegetable market, a butcher, a clothing store... all you'll hear is non-stop Jerry and Elaine whining and haggling about quality and price.

And that, my friends, is still reality in 2012 New York.

Were you ever a witness to any of the unfortunate and still occurring incidences of theft just outside Schnitzer's Bakery over the much sought after marble rye loafs?

Am I allowed on this blog to say that this is hilarious and true? Sorry, but in reality a lot of Jews are indeed cheap.
