Zipper Theater.

Intrusive bit of 3-D advertecture
on Lafayette near Bond for bag seller LeSportsac. The look is nicely carried through to their homepage. But, this thing really bothers me for some reason. Hmm. Small picture reason: the way it's unattractively hung on the building, sticking out over the edge. Big picture reason: Soon every fucking building on high visibility streets in Manhattan is going to have a zipper or Madonna or a big baby or Kate Moss's ass or a horse's ass or a big package or corporate-sponsored graffiti or corporate-sponsored art or a fucking cell phone or Adam Sandler or Frodo on it. And SOMEBODY is going to lose it.

I bet some shared similar sentiments about roadside Burma Shave ads years ago.

(Anyone familiar with the ubiquitous "SEE RUBY FALLS" signs on the interstates around Chatanooga? Same shit only worse cause its polluting nature rather than a five-floor walk-up.)

how is this that interesting or an innovative use of media? its not like it blends with the building (appearing to unzip the wall, etc.)...its just a white square with a big zipper. boo. not that cool.

I wonder if they simply made the sign too big or couldn't block someone's window as originally planned.

What I can't tell is what they're even advertising. Am I missing the LeSportsac idea?

Heinous, because it's too big and out of context for it's spot on that building. I LOVE Lesportsac bags, can't they do better than this? Did no one measure the space before making the sign? Otherwise, I don't mind the zipper, think it's mildly amusing.

But AAA will love them because they are landmarks!
